Travel the World: Hongkong

Thursday, August 27, 2015

There was a time when I asked my girlfriend where did she want to go for our next travel. I gave her two choices: Cambodia or Hongkong. Without any hesitation and with a little excitement, she shouted HONGKONG! Haha! Though I really want to go to Cambodia for a reason, I gave in and booked a flight to Hongkong.

After months of waiting, researching and saving up for the trip, we finally arrived! Welcome to Hongkong International Airport. First impression: It was HUGE!

We immediately grab for an airport map and looked for the important things we need to do: Buy octopus card and find the ticket booth to buy Disneyland ticket and the bus station going there.
We bought the Disneyland ticket for HKD450 at China Travel Services agency booth instead of HKD499 in official Disneyland ticket booth. Then we rode a bus going to Disneyland because it is cheaper. Riding the bus is very easy as you can also pay using the octopus card. The route of a particular bus number is printed at the bus stops so it was fairly easy to noticed. We rode the bus number S21 going to Tung Chung station then rode the train going to Hongkong alighting at Sunny bay station then finally boarding the Train going to Disneyland resort.

What can you expect in the designated train line going to Disneyland? There is Mickey mouse on them.

It was cloudy that time but that doesn't stop us from taking pictures at every landmark inside using my reliable Lumix GX1.

Here are some photos inside Hongkong Disneyland and the famous Flights of the Fantasy:

We intend to stay there until closing to see one of the highlights of Disneyland, the fireworks display.
Concluding our trip to Disneyland, it is really perfect for family. Especially if the kids are growing up watching cartoons with the likes of Mickey and gang, Disney princesses, Lion King and a whole lot more Disney characters.
After the fireworks, we went directly to our hotel in Central area. It was very easy as I think MTR operates until midnight. We forgot to take our dinner that time but we are more tired than hungry so we just went to sleep and get ready for the Macau excursion for the next day.

Stay tuned for our Macau trip for our 2nd day in Hongkong - Macau trip.
